Getting Started

There are two simple steps to getting started with our WhatsApp Service.

  1. Add MotorCheck as a contact to your WhatsApp contact list.

  2. Add your mobile number to your MotorCheck account.


Step 1. Add MotorCheck as a contact to your WhatsApp contact list

Simply open WhatsApp on your mobile phone and add the following number to your contact list.

Step 2. Set Your Mobile Number In Your MotorCheck Account

Next you will need to make sure that your mobile number is set as your primary phone number on your MotorCheck account.

To do this you'll need to login to MotorCheck and visit your Profile Page. Here you can check the phone number that's stored against your account and update it if necessary.

You will need to add your mobile number with the 44 country code. Check out the example below where we show you how to edit and save your number.

Enter your password in the password box and click save. That's it! You're now ready to start using MotorCheck with WhatsApp.


How to get a MotorCheck Report using WhatsApp

Simply send a message to MotorCheck containing the vehicle registration number of the vehicle you want to check. It doesn't matter if you enter it in higher or lower case. Just make sure there aren't any spaces.

Once your phone number matches the one stored on your MotorCheck account you will see a message confirming that the report is being generated. Within seconds you will receive all the key information you require along with a link to view the full report.


Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send a mileage reading with my request?

To send a mileage reading just separate the registration number and the mileage with a comma. So the format is "[VRM], [Mileage]".

In the example below I have sent 452000 as the current mileage using the format "Hd12avv, 452000".

Messages sent where the registration number is followed by a comma without a space before the mileage OR where the mileage contains a comma as a thousand separator will also work fine.

Eg. No space separating the mileage is fine

or using another comma in the mileage number is also fine.

Can I use any international phone number?

Yes. As long as the phone number your using matches what's stored on your MotorCheck account you will be able to use WhatsApp to retrieve reports.

Does it cost any more to use WhatsApp versus the website?

No. The cost of your check is exactly the same.

Will my MotorCheck reports be available to view online too?

Yes. Any MotorCheck report you create using WhatsApp will be available to view in your account as usual.

How do I stop a user from accessing my MotorCheck account

To disable access for any user on your account (for both web or WhatsApp access) you change their account status from 'Active' to 'Suspended'.

You will need to login as the account admin and visit the 'Users' page where you can click on any user account you wish to suspend.
