What is the AVILOO Battery Warranty?
Every eligible electric vehicle you certify with AVILOO will soon come with an AVILOO Battery Warranty, included at no extra cost. It is an independent, insurer-backed warranty against accelerated battery degradation, issued alongside the AVILOO battery certificate.
A separate, financially-backed warranty issued alongside the independent AVILOO battery certificate, and reinsured by Swiss Re, one of the world's largest reinsurers, the certificate records the battery's state of health on the day of the test. The warranty adds a layer of protection if that battery degrades faster than expected during the cover period. It is the first warranty of its kind built purely on independent measurement data.
Is it the same as the battery certificate?
No. They are two separate documents.
The certificate is independent evidence of the battery's condition at the point of sale.
The warranty is an added layer of protection that travels with the vehicle, against the battery's state of health falling below a certified threshold.
You can give the certificate to every buyer as proof of condition, with the warranty standing behind it.
Which vehicles qualify?
Eligible battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) that pass AVILOO's automatic eligibility check at the time of the Flash Test. Plug-in hybrids still receive a full AVILOO certificate, but the warranty itself is for battery-electric vehicles.
How long does the cover last?
Twelve months or 20,000 kilometres from the date of the AVILOO test, whichever comes first. The period is fixed from the test date and printed on the warranty certificate.
What does it cost?
Nothing extra. The warranty is included with every eligible AVILOO Flash Test at no additional cost. There is no separate product to buy or price up.
What does it protect against?
Accelerated, abnormal battery degradation. At the time of the test, AVILOO sets a vehicle-specific state-of-health threshold: the minimum it expects the battery to still hold at the end of the cover period. If the battery falls below that threshold during the cover period, the warranty pays out. Normal, gradual battery wear is not a warranty event.
What happens if a battery does degrade too far?
During the cover period, a second AVILOO Flash Test (a "validation test") checks the battery against its certified threshold. If it has dropped below, the owner receives a fixed cash sum, the amount of which is shown on the warranty certificate, and the cost of that confirming test is refunded. The claim is assessed and paid by AVILOO directly.
How do you make a claim?
Arrange a validation Flash Test at an AVILOO partner, within the cover period.
If it shows the battery below its certified threshold, submit a claim to AVILOO within 14 calendar days of that test, by email to warranty@aviloo.com or through the form on the AVILOO website.
Include both Flash Test certificates (the original and the validation test), proof of identity, the vehicle's registration document, proof of ownership, and bank details for payment.
AVILOO reviews the claim (it may arrange a further confirming test) and, once approved, pays within 30 days of completing its review.
Please note: AVILOO does not send reminders about the cover period. The owner is responsible for arranging the validation test and submitting the claim in time.
Who can claim?
The warranty is held by the vehicle's owner and travels with the vehicle, so it passes to a new owner if the car is sold during the cover period. If a vehicle is sold on finance, please contact us and we will confirm how the warranty applies.
What is not covered?
The warranty covers accelerated electrochemical degradation only. It does not cover, for example:
normal, gradual battery wear (degradation that stays within the certified threshold);
vehicles used commercially during the cover period (for example as a taxi, private-hire or rideshare vehicle, a short-term rental, or for commercial delivery);
damage from accidents, flooding, fire, or other physical or environmental causes;
unauthorised battery repairs or non-genuine parts, vehicle software tampering, or the use of non-approved charging equipment;
motorsport or track use.
The full list of exclusions is set out in AVILOO's terms and conditions.
Is it a repair or replacement warranty?
No. It pays a fixed cash sum, independent of any repair or replacement cost. It does not pay for a battery repair or replacement.
Does it replace my obligations or the customer's rights?
No. The warranty is a voluntary commercial guarantee provided by AVILOO. It sits alongside, and does not replace, your usual obligations to the customer or the customer's statutory rights. The independent AVILOO certificate remains your documented evidence of battery condition at the point of sale.
Where can I read the full terms?
